Monkeys
Monkey is a common name that may refer to most mammals of the infraorder Simiiformes, also known as the simians.
Here are some differences between monkeys and apes:
- Tails: The main difference between monkeys and apes is that monkeys have tails, while apes do not.
- Size: Apes are usually larger and heavier than monkeys.
- Body posture: Apes have a more upright body posture than monkeys and are often able to walk on two legs.
- Chest: Apes have a broad chest.
- Nose: Apes rely on vision rather than smell, and thus have shorter noses than some monkeys.
- Face: Apes have almost naked faces.
- Habitat: Most monkeys live in trees, while apes are comfortable on the ground as well as in trees.
Other differences between monkeys and apes include:
- Brain-to-body size ratio: Apes have a larger brain-to-body size ratio than monkeys.
- Lifespan: Apes have a longer lifespan than monkeys.
- Intelligence: Apes are generally considered to be smarter than monkeys.
Both monkeys and apes are primates, which means they're both part of the human family tree.
